Product profile: A cute little EV hatchback
There has been an unfortunate trend towards massive SUVs and utes in Australia, but we are seeing more and more smaller EVs from China at excellent prices.
The Geely EX2 is a recent introduction to the Australian car market, designed squarely at the city market, but with enough range to make it a versatile little EV.
The EX2 comes in two models—the Complete and the Inspire. The Complete comes with a 35.35kWh LFP battery powering a 60kW/150Nm motor driving the rear wheels—it’s great to see a small rear-wheel-drive hatchback! The battery is good for up to 252km WLTP range and can take a DC charge at up to 60kW.
The Inspire ups the specs a bit, pushing motor power to 85kW (same 150Nm of torque), while the battery jumps to 47.14kWh to give a range of 345km and a charge rate up to 80kW. Both models have 3.3kW V2L.
Many of the other specs are the same, although the Inspire gets alloy wheels instead of the Complete’s steel wheels, and the Inspire also gets a power tailgate, decorative accents, heated steering wheel, full surround-view camera and rain-sensing wipers.
Pricing is just $26,490 for the Complete and $30,990 for the Inspire, plus ORCs.
