Product profile: Easy hemp construction

Hempcrete is an amazing material, but building with it can be time consuming and labour intensive.

IsoHemp building blocks solve that problem with preformed blocks that are simply glued and stacked into place, allowing for rapid and simple wall construction.

There are three block types—solid, drill bored and U-channel, and the blocks come in a standard size of 60cm long by 30cm high, in thicknesses of 6 to 36cm (bored and U blocks are 30 or 36cm thick only). The bored blocks can be stacked to align the bores for concrete to be poured in, forming load bearing columns, while the channel blocks can be used to form frames and lintels by filling the channel with reinforced concrete. Alternatively, they can be used with wood or steel framing for a more conventional build.

Being hempcrete, the finished walls are breathable and regulate moisture well, and provide excellent insulation (up to R5) and acoustic attenuation up to 45dB.

Fire rating is also good, with up to two hours of fire resistance, depending on wall thickness and finish.

And, being hempcrete, they actually absorb carbon as they cure, with a palette of IsoHemp blocks storing around 100kg of CO₂.
