Welcome to our new Sanctuary editor, Anna

Specialist sustainable design writer Anna Cumming takes over as Sanctuary managing editor.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Anna Cumming to the position of Managing Editor for Sanctuary magazine. Anna has a background in communications and a particular interest in clever, sustainable, energy-efficient home design, and has been a long-time member of the Renew team. She has worked closely with the past four Sanctuary editors to develop the magazine’s focus and style, most recently as Associate Editor supporting outgoing editor Kulja Coulston.

“We are thrilled to have Anna step into the Sanctuary editor role with her wealth of experience in communications and sustainable housing, honed though a variety of positions at Renew. She brings to the job her smarts, beautiful writing and passion for a sustainable future,” said Renew CEO Donna Luckman.

Anna walks the talk herself, slowly renovating her family’s 1920s home in Preston, Melbourne for greater energy efficiency and increased comfort, and says that visiting sustainable houses in order to tell their stories for Sanctuary is one of her favourite parts of the job. “After several years writing about architecture, the building process and the consumer experience of these, I’m looking forward to leading our team of writers who also specialise in this area,” she said. “Sanctuary is well placed to fill a crucial niche at a time in history when action on emissions reduction is urgent, and people are increasingly looking for independent information on how to make their homes more sustainable. I’m excited about continuing to bring our readers the best green homes and the latest in eco-friendly design and materials, here and around the world.”

Anna’s first issue, Sanctuary 48 produced in collaboration with Kulja, is available now from our webshop and will be on sale in newsagents from Monday 26 August. It features a collection of beautiful environmentally-friendly homes including several opening for Sustainable House Day this year, and also looks at how to find a green builder, the latest in inspired playspace design and much more.
