Product profile: Electric deliveries (and camping!)

Commercial vehicles are a big contributor to Australia’s greenhouse emissions, but slowly we are seeing more affordable light commercial EVs entering the market here.

One of the most recent is the eDeliver 7 from LDV Motors, a 1-tonne class van that comes in three versions.

There’s the short wheelbase low-roof model, a long wheelbase low-roof version and a high roof, long wheelbase model with 400mm of extra roof height—ideal for a camper van! They have 5.9m3, 6.7m3 and 8.7m3 of cargo space respectively.

The short wheelbase model comes with a 77kWh battery while the long wheelbase models both get the larger 88kWh unit (the smaller battery is also available on the LWB low-roof model). Range varies from around 310km to 360km or so, depending on model, but that’s WLTP figures, so expect 10-20% less in real life.

The eDeliver 7 comes with a 150kW, 310Nm motor, so plenty of power and torque for hauling stuff around, and all models come with a 5-year/160,000km vehicle warranty and 8-year/250,000km battery warranty—one of the better battery warranties we’ve seen to date.

RRP
Pricing starts at around $60,000 (for ABN holders, RRPs are yet to be announced), so a lot cheaper than most electric light commercial vehicle offerings so far.
