Product profile: Roof ventilation when you need it

Aussie roof cavities get hot in summer, and the most common attempt to ventilate them is the less-than-effective rotary ventilator. These only work well when there is a decent breeze to spin them, and even then, their airflow rates are not enough to effectively ventilate a typical roof cavity.

Solar ventilators do a much better job as they run hardest when they are needed most—when the sun is brightest.

The Solazone Vogue SF30 solar ventilator has a nice integrated 30 watt solar panel and is best suited for ventilating standard pitched roofs up to 150m2 or the top storey of a two-storey home when placed on a north-facing roof.

Rated airflow is up to 3147 cubic metres per hour, while fan noise is rated at less than 40dBA.

The Vogue is relatively low profile measuring 570mm x 570mm x 220mm, and is designed to blend with the roof line—it is available in black or any Colorbond colour to help it blend in.

Solazone also has other more powerful ventilators for larger roof spaces.

RRP
RRP is $795 while the optional night operation pack costs $225. Colorbond paint matching is $85 and bushfire-rated mesh is $100 extra.
