Renew wins Australian Ethical Foundation grant for Timor-Leste solar

We are thrilled to announce that Renew has won a $20,000 community grant from the Australian Ethical Foundation to continue funding work installing solar in Timor-Leste.

This grant will go directly to support the pay-as-you-go solar project in the Baguia district in Timor Leste, implemented by local social enterprise Ho Musan Ida. The program helps Timor families move beyond dangerous and harmful kerosene lamps. Under the PayGo model, a family is given the opportunity to pay for a solar home system over time using their savings on kerosene. The system resembles recharging credit on a pre-paid mobile phone.  You can read more about this model in an article in Renew magazine.

Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us–because of you we are able to fund important sustainable projects like this one!
