The Cape is designing and building a 230 home community of energy efficient, all electric, solar powered gas-free homes, averaging 8 Star efficiency, with some residents achieving zero energy bills. Passive design helps the homes maintain year round stable temperatures with minimal heating and cooling. Some residents have long range electric cars. Homes feature a minimum of 10,000 litre rainwater tanks for toilet flushing and watering gardens. The Cape is also building a very large, water efficient community urban farm.
Seats are limited, so please register the number of people in your group, and inform us of cancellations.
George Fairlie, a solar system specialist and board member of the Energy Innovation Co-op will tell us how the solar system has performed, plans for the future and answer our questions.
