Product profile: Replace that gas boiler

For homes with gas hydronic heating systems, replacing the gas boiler can be difficult. Many heat pump boilers run at lower temperatures than gas units, and over a certain size, they usually need three-phase power.

The Wise Living High Temperature Heat Pump eliminates both of these issues. It comes in two models, 12 kW and 23 kW, and both have a maximum water output temperature of 75 °C. This high output temperature makes the units direct replacements for similarly sized gas boilers.

Coefficients of performance for both models are 5.09 and 4.91 respectively, and the heat pumps are designed to operate in outdoor ambient temperatures down to -25 °C, making them suitable for pretty much anywhere in Australia. Both models use R32 refrigerant (difluoromethane), with a global warming potential of 677, much lower than the common R410A.

Electrically, both are single-phase machines, with the 12 kW unit requiring a connection up to 15 A while the 23 kW model can draw up to 30 A. Of course, you need to have a suitable power connection to the mains grid, so get that checked first before taking the plunge and disconnecting from gas!

RRP
Pricing starts at $11,005 for the 12 kW model and $13,508 for the 23 kW unit.
