‘Climate change: what does the latest IPCC report mean for our future?’
Renew Illawarra Branch is excited to present this special evening. This is an excellent opportunity to hear Professor Lesley Hughes. She is a highly regarded speaker on this subject and we are very fortunate to have her visit.
Speaker: Professor Lesley Hughes is Professor, Climate Change Ecology Group, Macquarie University. She has published extensively and is a Board member of the Eminent Scientists Group and One Million Women. She also previously served on the Australian Representative Advisory Committee of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the federal Land Sector Carbon & Biodiversity Board and the federal Climate Commission, and is member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists. This is just a small sample of Professor Hughes’ extensive accomplishments. You can read Professor Hughes’ academic profile here.
The evening will be opened by our Lord Mayor and we will be serving refreshments before and after the presentation to allow plenty of opportunity for discussion.
You may wish to have a look at the Climate Council’s “Australia’s Rising Greenhouse Gases” report here.
How to get to the Meeting
The ITAMS Building (233) is in south-western corner of Innovation Way, in the University’s Innovation/East Campus (not the main campus). The campus has two entrances:
The eastern entrance is from Squires Avenue, into Puckey Way, the western entrance is from Montague Street, into Puckey Way.
About half way along Puckey Way there is an intersection where you turn south into Innovation Way. The ITAMS building is on the right/western side towards the end.
Best parking is probably in area P7, just past the ITAMS Building. Parking is free after 6:30 pm.
You can download Professor Hughes presentation from the evening here.
