When: Thursday 14th February 2019, 6:30 for 7:00pm start
Where: ITAMS Building (233-G01), UOW Innovation Campus, Squires Way, North Wollongong NSW
Cost: $5 donation appreciated to cover refreshments at 6.30pm prior to the talk at 7.00pm

Speaker: A graduate in maths and physics, Tom Hunt recently retired as Strategic Projects Manager (Transport) at the University of Wollongong, where he enabled major shifts towards sustainable transport. Previously he worked in Information Technology at BHP. His overall concern and major motivation is now Climate Change. Tom is the founder, former Convenor and currently Secretary of Renew Illawarra Branch. He also leads the Wollongong Climate Action Network (WCAN) and is active in Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL).

Presentation: Tom was an early adopter of the Toyota Prius hybrid, which he recently converted into a plug-in while waiting for a Tesla Model 3 or other fully electric option. He added to his considerable knowledge of electric car developments and charging aspects by touring with a BMW electric car (photo above) in the UK and Europe for an extended period in 2018. Join us to hear about the current status worldwide and in Australia, latest developments, how they differ from ‘normal cars’, all you need to know about plugging them in, and the pros & cons of owning an ‘EV’. Tom will also discuss how EV charging can work in with your home solar, home battery and the grid to achieve sustainable transport.

How to get to the Meeting
The ITAMS Building (233) is in south-western corner of Innovation Way, in the University’s Innovation/East Campus (not the main campus). The campus has two entrances:
The eastern entrance is from Squires Avenue, into Puckey Way, the western entrance is from Montague Street, into Puckey Way.
About half way along Puckey Way there is an intersection where you turn south into Innovation Way. The ITAMS building is on the right/western side towards the end.
Best parking is probably in area P7, just past the ITAMS Building. Parking is free after 6:30 pm.

You can download the audio or slides from the evening.

We hope to see you there,

Greg Knight, Interim Convenor
Renew Illawarra Branch
