Economics of water-saving technology
Water bills have increased considerably in Victoria. As the price of mains water goes up, there is an incentive for people to install more efficient water technology in their home.
Renew, with funding from the Consumer Utilities Advocacy Centre, has conducted a review of the economics of common water-saving technology: efficient shower heads, toilets, dishwashers, washing machines, rainwater tanks, greywater systems and recirculators.
We have found that, as well as the environmental benefits of a smaller ecological footprint, water-saving technology does save people money. This is believed to be the first comprehensive review of the economics of domestic water-saving technology in Victoria.
Renew is Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation promoting sustainable living.
