Join Renew’s Tassie South Branch on Monday 3 November in the upstairs function room at the Republic Bar, 299 Elizabeth St, North Hobart. General meeting starts at 6.15pm, and guest speakers from 7.30pm.
Detlev Geard is an architect, and has his own design business ‘Sustainable Architecture and Solar’. He has a strong interest, basing over 20 years of his career, on solar architecture and environmentally friendly housing design. On this occasion, he will demonstrate the importance of incorporating water use in building design.
Branch President, Anne Watson, will talk about The Urban Stream Syndrome – the human impacts on urban stream water quality. How what we do in our streets and gardens influences the health of local streams. This will include talking to the builders in our audience about how they can manage a building site to reduce runoff to the stormwater system.
Landscape architect Ros Woodburn will tell us how she reduces water use in the home and garden. Ros’s hemp home, waran ngali, on Bruny Island was open for Sustainable House Day earlier this year.
