Speaker: Todd Houstein is the executive director of Sustainable Living Tasmania. Todd is an engineer turned sustainable community development leader. He worked as a lightning protection engineer for Tassie business Novaris Pty Ltd, did postgraduate engineering research into renewable energy systems with UTAS and the Institute for Energy Technology in Norway. Todd founded the Tasmanian Chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) and was president of it for 2 years before moving to Melbourne to work in their national office. He returned to Tasmania in 2010 and has been working enthusiastically on community development approaches to the use of appropriate technology.

Presentation: Todd will be talking about a range of topics relevant to solar power generation including;

  • how to minimise your power bills and maximise returns from solar PV
  • solar power upgrades
  • new tariffs
  • PV modelling
  • hot water storage
  • grid connected batteries
  • solar panel orientation.
