Following on from our focus on passive house design and construction, Mariska Van De Cappelle, director of Spacewise Design, will share her insights into:

• Smaller foot print homes with multi-functional and multi-generational purpose. Specifically walking through the journey of her own home, which she designed and built as an owner builder.
• High-performance and sustainable homes. That covers everything from the building shape, material selection, windows and energy modelling through to airtightness and heat recovery ventilation. She’ll also explain PH Design and PHPP, the Passive House Planning Package, and how the energy model works.
• The second half shifts to high performance timber construction detailing, specifically how to minimise thermal bridging.
• Mariska will be joined by structural engineer Alex Taoum, a timber researcher from UTas. They will discuss the “Californian Corner” and many more lesser known details and information about bracing and wall plates in relation to thermal bridging.      

CBOS have approved 2 CPD points for building practitioners (architects, designers, engineers, builders, etc) and 1 CPD point for plumbers.  For some reason, this presentation is considered not relevant for electricians.

Everyone is welcome to attend the general meeting, but please stay downstairs if you want to chat.  The acoustics are poor and it is difficult for people to hear. if others are chatting.
