Presentation: ‘My Journey to an Energy Efficient Home’

John Lynn discovered that there were much better options and why those options were better. When it came time to build a new house, as many of those much better options were incorporated in the new build as could be afforded and facilitated. Today that’s all ancient history. The night will feature this ancient history and reveal what was done and why it was done.

John Lynn is a retired Queensland school teacher with 37 years’ experience, and an accomplished musician. He became an “alternative energies” enthusiast in the late 80s / early 90s. After having experienced the frustration of living in and trying to improve the energy performance of ‘lemon’ rental houses (hot in summer and cold in winter), he bought a property near Woodford to build an energy efficient home. He undertook studies in Renewable Energy at Ithaca TAFE in Brisbane in 1999. Using this knowledge, he and his family went on to build an off-grid, solar powered, energy efficient home. John now runs short courses for home owners and real estate professionals, and presents energy efficiency information on a local radio station regularly. He had just written a book entitled “Home Energy Efficiency Secrets – The Inside Story”, scheduled for publishing on Amazon in early February 2020.
