Ensure NSW rental homes are safe and healthy

A broad coalition of community, business, research and environment groups, have come together to call for the NSW Government to set strong minimum standards for rental homes.

All homes should be safe, healthy and affordable to run.

But on average, rental homes have worse energy efficiency than owner-occupied homes. Too many renters are forced into unnecessarily high energy bills in homes without insulation, draught proofing, or efficient heating and cooling systems.

Minimum standards for rental homes can change this.

Homes that don’t protect residents from the elements are not safe. With temperatures in Western Sydney pushing towards 50 degrees this summer, it has never been more urgent to take action.
