The information session is open to anyone interested in the process of installing solar panels on an apartment building.  The process includes apartment owner discussions, Owners Corporation meetings, applying for a Solar Victoria grant, selecting an installer and choosing a method for sharing solar power between the residents.

Three knowledgeable speakers will share their experience and answer questions.

Dan Thompson (Smarter Communities) has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector.  A strong technical background and education in electrical engineering has enabled Dan to successfully deliver rooftop solar power solutions for many groups.  He will outline several common options.  Smarter Communities is one of the largest community management companies in Australia, specialising in Owners Corporation management.

William Anstee (Allume Energy) is passionate about making solar power accessible to residents in multi-tenancy residencies.  Allume Energy supplies the world-first, Australian-made SolShareTM technology which shares the electricity generated from a rooftop solar array between multiple dwellings.

Dr Valerie Kay has hands-on experience with this topic.  Back in 2014, Val arranged for a 1.5kW array to be installed on the roof of her apartment building.  She is now working with fellow owners to apply for a Victorian ‘Solar for Apartments’ grant based on a plan for individual panels for each apartment.  Val will provide valuable insights from an apartment owner’s perspective.
