Join Renew’s Tassie South Branch on Monday 7 April at 7:30pm in the upstairs function room at the Republic Bar, 299 Elizabeth St, North Hobart.

Branch Secretary, architect Nigel Legge, will explain how he has made his home in Hobart more energy efficient, including changes in how he operates the house to conserve energy. He will also give an overview of the different brands of hot water heat pump systems.

Ros Woodburn will talk about her off grid hempcrete home on Bruny Island, how it was built and how she minimises power use and water (and her environmental footprint). Ros’s home will be open for Sustainable House Day on 4 May.

“What I believe makes my house sustainable is my behaviour – patterns of living which required low energy and water input and little waste. Affordable, sustainable housing is about modifying first our behaviours then building to meet these ‘living lightly’ criteria. Behaviour drives your design.”
