Support Sustainable House Day 2020

For more than 20 years, Sustainable House Day has provided an opportunity for hundreds of thousands of people to visit some of Australia’s leading green homes. The event gives visitors a chance to inspect firsthand houses that have been designed, built or renovated with sustainability in mind as well as the opportunity to talk to owners and receive unbiased advice. In 2019, over 44,500 people visited 252 properties across Australia.

Since 2016 Renew, a long-term community partner of Sustainable House Day, came on board as the national organiser to run the event. As a not-for-profit that inspires, enables and advocates for people to live sustainably in their homes and communities, Renew brings considerable experience in running open houses and other sustainability events and has extensive networks throughout the community sector, sustainability experts and media.

This year, the event will take place on 20 September and there are a number of ways you can get involved:

  • Register to attend – you only need to register once and you’ll be registered for all future events.
  • If you’ve worked hard to make your house more sustainable and want to let your house inspire and educate others as you share your journey of what worked, what didn’t and how it has changed your way of living, consider opening your home.
  • If you or your company delivers sustainable services or products for homes, consider becoming a sponsor.
  • If spreading the message of sustainable housing is important to you, consider supporting Sustainable House Day with a tax-deductible donation (see below).

Reducing the carbon intensity of our houses has the benefits of saving residents money, as well as making them healthier and more comfortable to live in. However, many Australians are overwhelmed by the amount of information on what actions they can take in their own home or rental properties, or the benefits those actions may have.

This is why Sustainable House Day is so important and this is why we need your support. Click here to donate to Sustainable House Day and help make this event possible.
