Breaking the code: what’s recyclable, what’s not?
Have you ever wondered if recycling plastics is really worth the bother and if what we put in our recycling bins ends up in landfill anyway? Renew Hunter Region Branch will be joined by Jess Hodge from Resourceful Living on Sunday 21 June for a hands-on journey turning waste into wealth! For more information, contact Ewa at Renew Hunter or register here.
“Our vision is to help consumers see that recycling is making a difference and to keep up the great work. Think outside the box and see what we can create with recycled plastic.”
The Resourceful Living team manufacture products from 100% post-consumer waste using recycled plastics to make items such as furniture, homewares and building supplies.
“Many people think we should stop using plastic altogether and yes of course, we should limit our use of plastic wherever possible. However, it is a practical product as long as it is not used for convenience or single-use, but can continue to be reused and re-manufactured as a valued resource”.
The workshop will include:
- demystifying the recycling process to help us understand how recycling works
- showing us what does or does not get recycled
- learning about the 7 types of plastic
- deciphering those little symbols on plastic packaging
- and best of all you will heat and mould plastic into your own new product which you can take home.
