Foresighting Forum 2020 will be held on 19 – 20 February 2020 at Aerial Function Centre, UTS.

The theme of this year’s Forum is Take charge – a consumer vision for future energy services.

The discussion will be informed by a major new piece of consumer research we have commissioned, that asks households and small businesses across Australia about the future: about their preferences and expectations in relation to service, equity, technology, control and managing change and what that means for the long-term.

The Program

Day 1 will dig into the ‘why’.

Why a long-term vision for energy services is needed – through the lens of what consumers are telling us in the new research. Participants will explore the consumer values, preferences and priorities that can frame the future and hear from international experts about efforts to update the energy compact overseas. The key question about how a consumer vision for energy aligns with broader economic and societal trends will be discussed by a panel of consumer and sector leaders.

Day 2 will be about the ‘how’.

Firstly, how do we build a long-term Big Picture view of energy services and what are the key elements? How do we develop a Big Picture that can give consumers and the sector the clarity they need but is robust to uncertainty and does not close-down opportunities?

And secondly, how do we manage change to ensure consumers get the affordable and individualised services they need from an optimised system at every point in their life journey? What is our framework for managing the energy transition?
